Alan Weil

Alan Weil has been Editor-in-Chief of Health Affairs since June 1, 2014. A multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal, Health Affairs is the nation’s leading journal at the inter-section of health, health care, and policy. Weil is also director of the Aspen Institute’s Health Strategy Group.

Previously he was executive director of the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP), an independent, non-partisan, non-profit research and policy organization; director of the Urban Institute’s Assessing the New Federalism project; and held a cabinet position as executive director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing.‍

Weil is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and served six years on its Board on Health Care Services. He was an appointed member of the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) and a trustee of if, A Foundation for Radical Possibility. He served for twelve years on the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, and for ten years on the Board of Directors of the Essential Hospitals Institute.‍

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley, a master’s degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Transfers, Cancellations and Refunds Policy

Registrants may transfer their registration to another person at any time by notifying Gabby Palmieri ([email protected]) in writing. Cancellations must be made in writing to Lindsey Beck ([email protected]). Refunds minus a 20% service charge are available for cancellations received in writing 45 days or more prior to the start of the conference. No refunds are available thereafter.
