He continues to bring new services to accelerate AltaMed’s success in a value-based care environment while improving care for high-risk, high-need patients.

Prior to becoming Chief Operating Officer, he served as Medical Director for the AltaMed Institute for Health Equity. As Medical Director, he led community-partnered research and training to advance health equity. Under Dr. Talamantes’ leadership, the Institute received nationally competitive funding for research, evidence-based interventions, and medical education programs. Cultivating the next generation of physicians remains a cornerstone of Dr. Talamantes’ work. His vision led to the creation of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Family Medicine Residency and numerous pipeline programs throughout AltaMed that focus on advancing health equity. He served as the inaugural Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) for the AltaMed Graduate Medical Education Committee. He is a member of AltaMed’s Executive Governance Leadership Committee and co-chair of the Executive Physician Leadership Committee.
