Eric Mattelson, FSA, MAAA

Eric Mattelson, FSA, MAAA, is the Chief Actuary for Zing Health; a Medicare Advantage startup focused on supporting underserved communities through innovative technology and value-based partnerships. Eric oversees the Actuarial and Medical Economics department, combining business acumen with empirical insights to provide strategic and data-driven financial solutions. He is deeply involved in Zing’s value-based contracting, strategy, and financial reconciliation process and serves as a critical liaison between the health plan and provider partners. He is passionate about understanding how financial incentives, behavioral economics, and cognitive biases intersect to drive the decision making of individuals, groups, and organizations.

Before joining Zing Health, Eric was the Chief Actuary of Johns Hopkins HealthCare. For the past decade, across various roles, he has developed a deep and unique perspective on value-based partnerships having worked on the payer, provider, and consulting sides of the equation. Eric is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). He graduated from Amherst College with an undergraduate degree in Economics and Music.
