Jack Stephenson

President & CEO, Empire BCBS HealthPlus

Jack Stephenson is president of Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield HealthPlus, New York, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anthem, Inc. In this role, Mr. Stephenson is responsible for all aspects of health plan operations for Empire BlueCross BlueShield HealthPlus in New York. He previously served for six years as chief operating officer for the New York Medicaid business, responsible for sales and marketing, provider relations, community relations, enrollment and managed long-term care. The New York Medicaid plan in 2017 had revenues in excess of $2.6 billion, over 850 employees and more than 465,000 members in NYC metro area. Currently, Empire BCBS has engaged in varying levels of value based contracting. To date, Empire BCBS has instituted programs that are incentivizing heightened efficiency for almost 300,000 members and calling for better management of the $1.8 billion of revenue governed by these programs. Within the near term, Empire hopes to increase their footprint in the value based payment sector by creating programs to support an additional 10% of coverage through their offerings.

With more than 18 years of experience in the health care industry, Mr. Stephenson has extensive expertise in the managed care arena. Prior to joining Amerigroup in 2008, Mr. Stephenson served in several leadership positions in managed care organizations including Healthfirst, WellCare, UnitedHealth Group and Oxford Health Plans and was a fixed income research associate with Bloomberg, LLP.

Jack sits on the board of Beat The Streets and is on the Leadership Council of the Primary Care Development Corporation. He is a martial artist with specialty in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Mauy Thai Kickboxing and Wrestling . He is most proud of his family. He is married to Francis and has two children, Jack and Joshua. He is a member of Grace Church in Ridgewood, NJ.

Cancellations must be made in writing to Lindsey Beck (lbeck@healthmanagement.com). Refunds minus a 20% service charge are available for cancellations received in writing 45 days or more prior to the start of the conference. No refunds are available thereafter.
