Karen Kimsey

Ms. Karen Kimsey was appointed by Governor Northam into the role of Chief Deputy Director of the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) in March 2018. She currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Medicaid Program, and operationally led the expansion of the new Medicaid benefit for over 271,000 low-income adults. Prior to her appointment, Karen served as the Deputy Director of Complex Care and Services at DMAS. Karen has over 24 years of experience working with the Medicaid program, most recently including the development and oversight of Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus, which serves over 210,000 individuals in a managed long-term services and supports program. Her extensive experience includes development, implementation and oversight of health care programs and policy for individuals in need of long-term services and supports and behavioral health. She has Bachelors and Master degrees in Social Work with a Certificate in Aging Studies, and has is the proud Mom to her two sons, Evan and Andrew.

Transfers, Cancellations and Refunds Policy

Registrants may transfer their registration to another person at any time by notifying Lis Diaz (ldiaz@healthmanagement.com) in writing. Cancellations must be made in writing to Lindsey Beck (lbeck@healthmanagement.com). Refunds minus a 20% service charge are available for cancellations received in writing 45 days or more prior to the start of the conference. No refunds are available thereafter.
