
Sharlene Newman, Ph.D.
Sharlene Newman, Ph.D. is a cognitive neuroscientist who in 2022 was elected as a neuroscience fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Newman moved to the University of Alabama in 2019 to lead the Alabama Life Research Institute which has as its mission to use research to improve the lives of the people of Alabama. Her work involves engaging faculty from every college at the university, state and local government partners and community organizations to develop research collaborations designed to address large-scale health problems. Dr. Newman has been successful in obtaining funding including from the CDC to address cardiovascular disease, HUD to address lead exposures, and OMH to address health literacy in rural Alabama.

Transfers, Cancellations and Refunds Policy
Registrants may transfer their registration to another person at any time by notifying Gabby Palmieri ([email protected]) in writing. Cancellations must be made in writing to Lindsey Beck ([email protected]). Refunds minus a 20% service charge are available for cancellations received in writing 45 days or more prior to the start of the conference. No refunds are available thereafter.
